Program Overview

The Schema Therapy Institute of New York is pleased to announce the International Training & Certification Program in Schema Therapy. This long-distance program will provide intensive, individualized training over a one or two-year period, leading to a diploma documenting that the candidate is certified as a Schema Therapist at either a Basic or Advanced Level.

The curriculum includes a series of workshops in New York City conducted in English, weekly or bi-weekly supervision sessions (by telephone or in-person) in English or in other languages for which we have experienced supervisors, readings, and periodic reviews and ratings of patient audio or videotapes. The training, under the direction of Jeffrey Young, Ph.D., is conducted by an international faculty of supervisors with extensive experience in schema therapy. This training program will be conducted in cooperation with other certified schema therapy training programs throughout the world.

The International Certification Program in Schema Therapy is appropriate for experienced mental health professionals from all over the world, and is open to professionals with doctoral or master's level degrees in mental health fields (or the equivalent in each country). Applicants should have intermediate or advanced levels of general psychotherapy experience; have attended at least 4 days of workshops in Schema Therapy; and have read "Schema Therapy: A Practitioner's Guide." Additional criteria for admission are described in the detailed decription. Admission is competitive.
